The Supreme Force of Eternity is the debut album by death/doom band Runemagick.

Every once in awhile when listening to modern metal I sometimes get bored and crave metal from the old days and releases like this showcase how good death metal is timeless and can mend these open wounds from battle.

Runemagick plays a very well balanced death/doom brand of metal that features melodic guitar and battle inducing drums and bass!

Most of these new “death” bands especially the deathcore stuff tend to fail miserably because they have no foundation in old school death! Stick to the hardcore and leave death to the elders ok little emo kids? The songs on this album have such awesome power and majesty for a late 90s death release… death metal fans will love it and hopefully turn some new fans onto this great band.

Wow i did not know what to expect when I played this album for the first time, but I promise you I was pleasantly surprised.

Do you like cheesy 80′s horror movies? If so, this is for you, if you are looking for brutal kill the baby type death metal gore this ain’t it. But this is good stuff.

Acid Witch is an American Doom/Death Metal band created in 2007.

The album is all about witchcraft and the devil and although sometimes referred to as “doom” in my opinion the band has a more stoner sludge feel than doom but the gutteral death vocals definitely keep it amongst the dark side of metal and we want to keep it that way.

Amon Amarth – Surtur’s Rising 2011

“With Oden on Our Side” is the sixth full-length studio album by the Swedish death metal band Amon Amarth.

With Oden On Our Side was recorded in May and June 2006 and was released in Europe on 22 September 2006 by Metal Blade Records. A limited edition digipak was also released with a second disc that includes live songs, demos, and unreleased recordings. With Oden on Our Side was also released on a limited red LP. The songs “Runes to My Memory” and “Cry of the Black Birds” were both made into music videos.

With Oden on Our Side takes on a heavier approach compared to their previous album Fate of Norns; according to vocalist Johan Hegg, in an interview with Dutch metal magazine Aardschok, the album would go back to their roots such as their debut, Once Sent from the Golden Hall.

When asked about the meaning of the album’s title, Hegg remarked:

“Well, it kind of has several meanings to it. Oden is of course the highest god in Scandinavian mythology, and he’s the god of warfare, wisdom, poetry and artistry. The reason we chose the title is that it suited the lyrical concepts of the album and signified the feeling we had during the writing and recording of the album. We literally felt as if we had the Gods on our side.”

The album cover art features the Norse God Odin riding on his fabled octopedel horse Sleipnir. The background depicts the Valknut, a symbol whose meaning is uncertain, though archeological evidence clearly shows it to be associated with Odin. Letters of the Runic alphabet can be seen on the edges of the triangles forming the Valknut. The Runes on top spell out “With Oden on our Side”, whereas the bottom right runes spell “Amon Amarth” using characters from the Elder Futhark.

“Versus The World” is the fourth full length studio album released by the Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth, it was released in 2002.

When asked to comment on the album Versus The World, Amon Amarth vocalist Johan Hegg stated:

“This is the darkest, heaviest and most melancholic album we’ve ever done and the atmosphere can be felt through the whole album. I would say it’s the most even album we’ve done so far and that the concept can be recognized in every song.”

When I heard the first All Shall Perish album I told myself “wow this guys does death vocals the way I like!” Well, surprisingly, this album not only lives up to that, the vocals have gotten even better.

This album is intense from start to finish… the vocals are haunting and the music compelling, inviting, and enveloping. All Shall Perish – Awaken The Dreamers (2008) The opening track “When Life meant More” starts off this brutal album, and by the time you make it to the instrumental “The Ones We Left Behind” you can barely hang on for the mental assault occurring in the title song “Awaken The Dreamers.” Trust me, this is good metal and the band All Shall Perish have managed to stand out from the metalcore crowd with this deathcore release pushing the limits into technical metal and progressive music.
