According to Amazon: “After 2007′s critically acclaimed and now classic release, God Luck and Good Speed, had been toured to death around the world, the boys of WEEDEATER took time between the mishaps and mayhem of 2010 to write and record their 2nd album for Southern Lord Recordings and 4th full-length CD/LP, Jason … the Dragon, which will be released March 15th.”

“Recorded and mixed by the legendary Steve Albini and mastered by the equally legendary John Golden, Jason … continues the legacy that has culminated over nearly 15 years of the band’s existence into something truly unique and masterful.”

“WEEDEATER takes the listening doomernaut on a slithering journey though a sludgy world of viscous, black molasses riffs that are punctuated by cannon drums and some of the album’s most memorable lyrics. With a full headlining tour of the US planned for February and March and a European tour shortly thereafter with a stop at Roadburn and more dates to be announce soon, the band is rearing to take 2011 by storm and there is a horde of rabid fans ready to hear their newest offerings. Pure, unabashed, musical violence in every form. It’s real, and it’s dangerous, and it feels so damn good.”

Melechesh – Epigenesis (2010)

The Epigenesis is the fifth full length album by the black metal band Melechesh.

Blending Mesopotamian and Middle Eastern styles of music into blackened thrash metal Melechesh has infused awesome culture and mysticism into this epic album!

Epigenesis is another great album from this killer black metal band, Melechesh

Melechesh is one of those rare bands were every song they record is good. Album after album is filled with crunching fast guitars bludgeoning you with tones of ancient people and beliefs!

“Founded by a young guitarist named Ashmedi in the city of Jerusalem back in `93, Melechesh have always been a visionary band. Melting raw black metal with Mediterranean drum patterns and guitar scales resulted in a phenomenal and unique sound that is all their own. This interesting band has brought a new dynamic to extreme metal as fans and critics clamored for more. Ashmedi seized this opportunity and now writes autobiographical stories for magazines worldwide (Decibel in the US) and has a documentary about his life as well! This multidimensional aspect is characteristic for a band that constantly seeks to explore the many facets of the subgenre it forged within the extreme metal scene. Preferring quality to quantity, musical honesty over trends, Melechesh are answering a call. Amongst other surprises on this album, The Epigenesis incorporates more organic elements, subtly integrating traditional instruments (such as yayli tanbur, Azeri Tar, baglama saz, Indian sitar and Persian santur) and 12-string guitars while still leaving room for improvisations that channel the inspiring aura of Istanbul, a city that has always been a melting point for cultures and the crossroads of east and west, much like The Epigenesis itself.”

Melechesh – Emissaries (2006)

Ready for more Melechesh this morning? How about their fourth full length album, called Emissaries? Have you heard it yet? Check it out below…

This album opens up like an sand storm upon ancient lands plagued by pestilence, war, famine, and death! From the opening guitar riff to the brilliant use of middle eastern influence this album will draw you in like being a witness at a sacrifice!

All wiki says is “Emissaries is Melechesh’s fourth full length album and third through Osmose Productions. The album introduces their new drummer Xul (who has been performing with them since 2004). The Album contains an instrumental Bonus Track – Extemporized Ophtalmic Release – it is not titled on the track listing but is number 11 on the CD, the given name of this track basically refers to it being an unplanned improvised jam.”

Melechesh are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands of late. Both threash and black metal have been around for awhile and seeing bands branch out from the typical “we love satan more than you” album concept. Melechesh will open your mind to new forms of black metal.

Melechesh – Djinn (2001)

Wow, as soon as the intro starts on Melechesh’s Djinn you know this is going to be good. Many bands have used Mesopotamian influences and used instruments from the region as well, but none capture the essence of that culture in metal than Melechech!

Djinn is the second full length album by the black metal band Melechesh.”

Djinn is a fascinating concept and at over an hour long is sure to invite you in for a long voyage through the hot desert days and nights of genies, wizards, and witches! By using melodies and cultural influences the subject matter will wrap around your mind as you listen. Enjoy the mp3s.

Danzig – Lucifuge (1990)

Classic Danzig right here. According to the wiki “The title “Lucifuge” is the imperative form of the Latin compound verb lucifugere, from ‘lux’ (light) + ‘fugere’ (to flee), which means “to flee or shun the light”. If it is to be taken literally, lucifuge is thus a command: “shun the light” or “flee from the light” (or logically, “seek darkness”). “Lucifuge” is also the name of the demon in charge of Hell’s government by order of Lucifer, who is also one of the seven princes of Hell. Before its release the album had been tentatively titled “777″.”

Lucifuge is one of those albums that, to fans, is a must have in the Danzig discography however its also the last time we would here Danzig’s voice as it is on this recording. No other Danzig album sounds like this one.

Some of the songs on this album are some of Glenn Danzig’s finest song writing. While all Danzig’s music is good, this blues influenced time in this band’s career would never be matched again. Danzig moved on to heavy down tuned guitars and illustrates the difference in the earlier Danzig material.

Danzig – Danzig (1988)

“Danzig” is the 1988 debut album of the American heavy metal band Danzig, led by Glenn Danzig who was formerly the songwriter and vocalist of the Misfits and Samhain.

Danzig was recorded at Atlantic Recording Studios and Chung King Metal, and mixed at Smoke Tree and Village.

According to wikipedia,… “Glenn Danzig originally wrote the songs “Twist of Cain” and “Possession” for his previous band, Samhain. James Hetfield of Metallica performed backup vocals on “Twist of Cain” and “Possession”, but due to contractual reasons could not be credited in the album insert.”

“Original LP, CD, and cassette versions of the album cover had no writing or identifying text whatsoever, only a white skull on a black background. Later pressings of the compact disc added the Danzig band name logo in the lower right. While 1990-1998 pressings of the CD had the Parental Advisory label in the form of a sticker on the cellophane wrap, pressings since 1998 have the label printed on the artwork. Danzig is one of few albums labeled as “explicit” despite the virtual absence of profanity…”

Ahab – The Divinity Of Oceans (2009)

“The Divinity of Oceans is the second album by the German funeral doom metal band Ahab. This album was also released through Napalm Records in 2009.”

Slow drone funeral doom.

“Not unlike a baleful Leviathan, AHAB’s latest album, “The Divinity of Oceans”, emerges from the obscure ocean depths to provide an impressive account of the Essex and its condemned crew.

Ahab – The Divinity Of Oceans (2009)

Offering a kaleidoscope of human emotions that find tragic conclusion within deep despair and cannibalism, the terrible events are told within the perfect, though dark and disturbing confines of slow doom metal, brutal vocals, and melodic interludes. Markus Stock (Empyrium, The Vision Bleak) of Klangschmiede Studio E gives “The Divinity of Oceans” its finishing touch. With this latest offering, AHAB have managed to more than outdo their debut release, delivering a masterpiece of Nautic Funeral Doom Metal.”
