Iced Earth is a great heavy metal band that is said to combine the influences from thrash metal, power metal, and NWOBHM.

Iced Earth's Jon Schaffer has also paired up with Blind Guardian's Hansi Kursch to form the power metal band Demons & Wizards which is one of the best things to happen to metal in a long time.
